Lax-4-Life

GREAT LACROSSE EVENT SATURDAY OCTOBER 19^TH FOR A GREAT CAUSE:

 “Lax-4-Life” Lacrosse Tournament @ University of New England Blue Turf in Biddeford.  :

Proceeds go to the Barbara Bush Children’s Hospital.

 

Game Schedule:

·  There is no “gate fee”,but there will be a table set up at the entrance asking for donations as another way to generate money toward our donation to the hospital.

·  The UNE Softball team will be running a concession stand, selling food and drink items.

The Taste of Greater Waterville, presented by Mid-Maine Chamber of Commerce, is an annual community event created that celebrates all our region has to offer. Held on the first Wednesday in August, locals and visitors alike have come to enjoy one of Maine’s most popular outdoor festivities since its inception in 1992.

As with all traditional family gatherings, food is the core of the Taste. Enjoy food from three different venues;

• “The Bite” – Fast food served from booths throughout the day.
• “A-la-carte” – Full meals served after 5:00 while you’re on the move strolling through downtown.
• "Fine dining" -  Presold tickets to a fine-dining experience in the streets of downtown.
The day long celebration begins with children’s events including an animal petting zoo, face painting, and other fun activities. Downtown Waterville merchants host events and offer special values throughout the day. Several bands entertain guests throughout the evening with a top name band playing from 8-11 in the popular beer garden.

2013 Winter & Spring NAC All-Academic Honorees

Congratulations Issac Brown.
WHITINGHAM, VT- The North Atlantic Conference (NAC) has announced the 2013 Winter/Spring All-Academic honorees. To be honored, a student-athlete must have reached junior academic standing, have competed a minimum two years of varsity competition at their institution with a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.50.

Alumni Game

Start spreading the word!!! The alumni game is scheduled for a 10 am start on Sunday, October 20^th. We are planning to play two-25 minute (running time) periods. Lunch will be served folowing the game in the Oak Room.  If you plan on attending please RSVP Coach Cohen at Cohenj@thomas.edu

Academic Honors

Congratulations to the terriers that earned academic honors this past spring semester. Bryan Ferris and William "Bud" Prue earned Dean's list honors (GPA between 3.2 & 3.49). Zachary Crimmin earned Dean's list high honors (GPA between 3.5 & 3.79).

Two Terriers make the NAC All-Conference Team

Congratulations to Jesse Morkeski and Gunnar Shelton for making the  NAC All-Conference Team.
Jesse was named to the first team and finished the season with 234 saves,  a 58.6 save percentage, and 38 ground balls.
Gunnar earned second team honors and finished the season with 15 goals, 16 assists, and 51 ground balls.

"This year I had three terrific captains Sean Machin, Isaac Brown, and Jesse Morkeski. They have been a great asset to the program. As some of you may or may not know I am in my first season at the helm of the Thomas College men’s lacrosse program. These three young men were instrumental in me articulating my core values to their teammates. Their dedication and contributions will be felt for years to come as we continue to build this program. They will certainly will be missed but they and their contributions will not be forgotten. I look forward to seeing them return to campus as alumni."

 Crimmin went 13-21 from the faceoff as a long stick midfielder this week for the Terriers. In a 13-2 victory over UMF went 10-13, while picking up a game-high 10 groundballs and causing three turnovers.
